永住許可申請をする場合には、現在の在留カード有効期限満了日にご注意ください。　　　　　　　　　　When applying for permanent residence permission, please pay attention to the expiration date of your current residence card.

　現在の在留資格から永住許可（永住者の在留資格への変更）の申請をする場合には、在留カードの有効期限満了日にご注意ください。

　永住許可申請の標準的な審査期間は、出入国在留管理庁によると６か月から１年です（在留審査処理期間 | 出入国在留管理庁）。ただし、申請内容や審査官の抱える業務量により、より早く進む場合や遅くなる場合があります。

　永住許可申請中に現在の在留カードの在留期間満了日を経過してオーバ－ステイになる件数が多いと出入国在留管理庁から注意喚起がされています。
　また、現在の在留カードの有効期限が１日でも経過した場合には、オーバーステイとなり退去強制処分となる場合があります。
　なお、永住許可申請の場合には、在留資格変更申請や在留期間更新申請のように、許可・不許可の処分がされる日か在留期間の満了日から２か月を経過する日のいずれか早い日まで在留できる特例がありません。

　現在の在留カードの有効期限満了日までに永住許可される見通しが立たない場合や有効期限満了日と申請日との期間が概ね１年以上ある申請の場合でも、有効期限満了日前に永住許可さればければオーバーステイとなります。
　
　これから申請をする場合や既に申請済みの場合でも有効期限満了日の３か月前から現在の在留資格に基づく在留期間の更新申請ができますので、現在の在留カードの有効期間満了日を御確認のうえ必要がある場合には更新申請をしてください。

If you are applying for permanent residence permission (changing your current residence status to that of a permanent resident), please pay attention to the expiration date of your residence card.

According to the Immigration Services Agency, the standard review period for permanent residence permission applications is six months to one year (Residence review processing period | Immigration Services Agency). However, it may progress faster or slower depending on the content of the application and the amount of work the examiner has.

The Immigration Services Agency has issued a warning that there are a large number of cases of people overstaying their visas when they are applying for permanent residence permission and the expiration date on their current residence card has passed.
In addition, if the expiration date on your current residence card has passed by even one day, you may be considered an overstayer and be subject to deportation.

Note that there is no special provision for permanent residence permission applications, unlike applications for change of residence status or applications for renewal of period of stay, that allows you to stay until the earlier of the date of approval/denial or two months after the expiration date of the residence period.

If there is no prospect of permanent residence being granted by the expiration date of your current residence card, or if there is more than a year between the expiration date and the application date, you will be considered overstaying if permanent residence is not granted before the expiration date.

If you are planning to apply or have already applied, you can apply for renewal of your period of stay based on your current residence status from three months before the expiration date, so please check the expiration date of your current residence card and apply for renewal if necessary.
