戸籍への氏名フリガナ記載制度が開始 The system of entering names in furigana on Japanese family registers begins

　令和８年（２０２６年）５月２６日から戸籍に氏名のフリガナが記載されます。そして、令和７年（２０２５）年から順次、本籍地の市区町村から戸籍に記載予定の氏名のフリガナについての事前通知書が郵送されます。
　事前通知書に記載されている氏名のフリガナが正しい場合には、特に何もする必要がありません。一方、誤った氏名のフリガナである場合には、正しい氏名のフリガナを本籍地の市区町村に届け出なければなりません。もし、放置した場合には誤った氏名のフリガナが戸籍に記載されてしまいます。
　誤った氏名のフリガナの場合の訂正届出について、以下に記載します。
➀届出方法　
ア．郵送　イ．市区町村窓口で手続き　ウ．マイナポータル
上記のアからウまでのいずれか方法
➁届出人
・氏名の氏のフリガナ⇒戸籍に記載されている筆頭者
・氏名の名のフリガナ⇒事前通知書の名宛人各自
③届出期間
事前通知書の到着から令和８年（２０２６年）５月２５日まで
④届出できる氏名のフリガナ
・氏名のフリガナとして一般的に認知されている文字
・氏名のフリガナとして一般的に認知されていないが文字
（⇒通帳やパスポートの写しなどの資料が必要）
⑤届出の注意点
・届出期間内に届出しなかったため誤った氏名のフリガナが戸籍に
記載された場合には、１回に限り上記➀の方法で届出により訂正で
きる。
・上記➀の方法により１回届け出たことにより、令和８年（２０２６年）５月２６日以降に氏名のフリガナが戸籍に記載された場合は、２回目の届出はできない。（⇒家庭裁判所の許可が必要）

　From May 26, 2026, the furigana of the name will be listed on the family register. Then, from 2025, the city, town or village of the person’s registered domicile will send out advance notice by mail of the furigana of the name to be listed on the family register.
If the furigana of the name listed on the advance notice is correct, there is nothing special to do. On the other hand, if the furigana of the name is incorrect, the correct furigana of the name must be notified to the city, town or village of the person’s registered domicile. If left unattended, the incorrect furigana of the name will be listed on the family register.
The procedure for correcting the furigana of the name in the case of an incorrect furigana is described below.

・Family name furigana⇒The head of the family listed in the family register
・First name furigana⇒Each person to whom the advance notice is addressed
③ Notification period
・From the arrival of the advance notice to May 25, 2026
④Family name furigana that can be notified
・Characters that are generally recognized as family name furigana
・Characters that are not generally recognized as family name furigana
(⇒Documents such as bankbook or passport copies are required)
⑤Notes on notification
・If the incorrect family name furigana is listed in the family register because the notification was not made within the notification period, it can be corrected by notification using the above method ➀ once only.
・If the family name furigana is listed in the family register after May 26, 2026 due to a first notification using the above method ➀, a second notification cannot be made. (⇒Permission from the family court is required)
